At Vantage College we strongly believe in teaching “real skills for the real world.” But our commitment to your success doesn’t stop at the classroom! We believe another important skill for success is preparing for and conducting your job search.


Our Student & Career Services Department is staffed with full-time professionals to assist you in making the transition from school to the real world. The Vantage College Career Services staff helps guide our graduates in building a career by giving them the tools to help find and maintain desirable employment in their field of choice. Our staff will be with you every step of the way as you prepare to graduate and start your job-search.

Q. What can the office of Student & Career Services do for me?

A. The Career Services staff helps guide our students and graduates find and maintain desirable employment in their field of choice. From career planning and networking to resume and interview preparation, our staff is available to help you land a job in the medical, IT, or management field. Please see the list above for more details on the services offered.

 

Q. Can you help me with finding a job?

A. Yes! Our office exists to serve our students and help them choose a career and land a job. Vantage College maintains a dynamic list of current job openings and leads, focusing  mainly on employers within the area. However, we cannot guarantee job placement for every graduating student, as your success often depends on attendance and academic performance.

 

Q. Who is eligible for services? Is there a fee?

A. >Vantage College students and alumni are eligible for services free of charge. Prospective Vantage College students are also welcome at our Career Services offices to discuss career options and possibilities for the future. 

 

Q. How can I make an appointment to see a career counselor?

A. You can call the Career Services offices at your school or just stop by to set up an individual appointment.

 

Q. Can you help me with my resume?

A. Yes! Just make an appointment to bring your resume in and a career counselor will critique it. We can help you organize your personal information into a professional resume format that will get the attention of prospective employers. Our staff can also show you how to target your resume with a well-written cover letter to increase your chances of landing a dream job.

 

Q. Can you help me with interviewing skills?

A. Yes! Let our trained career staff help you practice your interviewing skills with both instruction and mock interviews. Some of the things we teach students include how to dress for success, how to answer tough questions, and  how to follow up with interviewers. Perfecting your skills with our staff will also greatly help your self-confidence at a professional interview. Please note that it is better to come in to see career services for interview preparation early in the job search process.

 

Q. Can Career Services help me find part-time or full-time employment?

A. Yes! Our Career Services staff helps students find both part-time and full-time job openings. Some students work on a part-time basis during school to help finance their education. If you require assistance in securing part-time employment while attending classes, the Career Services department will make every effort to assist you in your search. Schedule an orientation session that will provide you with an overview of how to use the different Job Database tools we have to search and apply for jobs.

 

Q. Can I sign up for an externship?

A. Yes! Externships are great way to launch your career. They offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience that can dress-up your resume. At Student & Career Services we work closely with faculty members to open up externship opportunities to students that are ready to take this path.

 

Q. Is there someone who can come to my organization to speak about employment issues in our area?

A. Yes! We are often invited to speak to community organizations, typically on topics such as “How to Write a Resume”, “Interviewing Skills”, and the latest trends in job development. Please call the nearest campus to  arrange a time for us to speak to your group.
